Local Scouts earn automotive maintenance merit badges

Automotive maintenance merit badge counselor Todd Trautman taught Matthew Lemon how to change a tire on Aug. 26, at Mountain States Pressure Service. Lemon and four other Scouts completed the badge.

SWEETWATER COUNTY — On Saturday, Aug. 26, five Scouts BSA from Troops 86, 8 and 70 completed the automotive maintenance merit badge with counselor Todd Trautman.

Troutman was assisted by Robbie Aldred.

The merit badge has 11 requirements, including learning how to check oil, change oil, change a tire and change an oil filter. Matthew Lemon, Robert Roswell, Braxton Hemmert, Matthew Lemon and Jacob Trautman.

The Scouts also participated in some other activities during the outing. They cooked and ate two meals, slept in semi-trucks and completed a requirement on the Vanguard Religious Award with Tropp 86’2 sponsor, Josh Sorensen.

There are 138 badges that Scouts BSA can earn. One of those badges is automotive maintenance.
